The Hidden Genius Project trains and mentors Black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills to transform their lives and communities. The Hidden Genius Project was founded in 2012 by five Black male entrepreneurs/technologists who were unnerved by the dramatic juxtaposition between the high unemployment of Black male youth and the plethora of career opportunities within the local technology sector. To address this challenge, the founders established a program to connect young Black males with the skills, mentors, and experiences that they need to become high-performing entrepreneurs and technologists in a 21st century, global economy.
Founded in 2009, The Grassroot Project (TGP) uses the power of sports and the platform of athlete role models to educate, inspire, and mobilize youth to live healthy lives. We are a team of more than 1,000 NCAA varsity athletes and 5,000 DC teens who are committed to making our city healthier. The Grassroot Project capitalizes on the excitement, relatability, and popularity of sports to provide much-needed health literacy and social empowerment programs to DC teens. The only way for us to succeed is to believe in the power of youth to make a difference. In addition to providing health education to DC teens, we invest in the leadership training, cultural competency, and professional skills of hundreds of NCAA varsity athletes who serve as our program facilitators. Hospice of the Piedmont is an organized, not for profit program that, upon informed choice, provides palliative care, health care, and supportive services to patients, their families, and significant others in both home and facility-based settings. Physical, social, spiritual, and emotional care is provided during the last stages of illness, during the dying process, and during bereavement by a medically directed interdisciplinary team. Hospice of the Piedmont serves patients from four North Carolina counties: Guilford, Forsyth, Randolph and Davidson.
To use our collective experiences to offer peer support. coping skills, and education to parents and siblings of those who suffer from the disease of addiction, and to parents who have recently lost a child to addiction.
Leveling the Playing Field gives kids from under-resourced communities the opportunity to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of youth sports participation. We do this through the donation of used and excess sporting equipment to programs and schools serving low-income communities. Our donations allow programs to allocate funds saved by lowering registration fees, expanding their scholarship programs, enhancing their existing athletic program and/or developing new ones.

To help youth in foster care to heal and grow from trauma & rejection through the power of storytelling and filmmaking; changing the trajectory of these youth, from adversity to achievement. KITS’ Screenwriting and Filmmaking Program delivers comprehensive and therapeutic arts education/training, which has assisted our youth in mitigating their pain and finding their power; as well as securing entry level jobs, internships and post-secondary school admission. Each year culminates in an annual KITS Awards – our version of the "Academy Awards".
