THE 4-H FOUNDATION OF SONOMA COUNTY, A NON-PROFIT 501C(3) CORP, WAS ESTABILISHED IN 1982 TO SUPPORT, PROMOTE & ENHANCE THE 4-H PROGRAM IN SONOMA COUNTY. THROUGH THE FOUNDATION, 4-H CLUBS COUNTY-WIDE CAN APPLY FOR GRANTS TO ENHANCE & BENEFIT THEIR 4-H WORK.

The Foundation was founded in 1998 by then Miami Dolphin linebacker, Twan Russell, and his mother, Corliss. Corliss was a middle-school teacher with a huge heart for helping struggling children. Called the Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation, the after school program focused solely on reading as a means to equip children for academic success. Twan grew up in the inner-city and believed that a mastery of reading played a large part in overcoming his circumstances. He received a communications and criminology degree from the University of Miami that has helped him to achieve his goals long after his football career has ended. Twan and Corliss started the first center at a local church and neighborhood children immediately began to take advantage of the opportunity to overcome their challenges with reading and to reinforce important life skills. Community partners stepped in along the way and now the foundation serves hundreds of children. New centers are being added every year. Starting in 2010, the program began to add math and science, dance and other activities. The foundation was renamed in 2015 to reflect this broader focus. In 2008, Dragonfly Darlings was added as an auxiliary organization for the mothers of the children in the program. Through periodic events and an annual conference, it helps the parents to encourage their children academically and to improve their own literacy skills. Today, Twan Russell is the Senior Director of Community Programs for the Miami Dolphins. He remains active in the foundation as Chairman of the board of directors. Sadly, Corliss Russell’s early death in 2006 prevented her from seeing the life-changing resource that the Russell Education Foundation has become. Her memory continues to inspire everything that the foundation does in the community.

US STEM also provides scholarships to students with financial needs for higher education in STEM fields. ​ We have nurtured unfocused youth to grow and achieve high honors in a broad range of academics. Our reserved students step out of their shell into technical leadership roles. ​ There is a dire need for the services the US STEM Foundation provides as evident by the critical unmet demand for engineers, scientists, and technology specialists - a core challenge US STEM is embracing.

The mission of the Women and Girls Foundation (WGF) is to achieve equality for women and girls, now and for generations to come. Our vision is for women and girls in Pennsylvania to have equal access, opportunity, and influence in all aspects of their public and private lives. To realize this vision, the organization’s active work is focused on developing the female leaders of tomorrow and advancing women’s rights today.

The mission of "I Have a Dream" Foundation - Los Angeles (IHADLA) is to provide long-term support to children and youth living in under-resourced communities to achieve their full potential, by promoting from an early age, values of higher education and career success, with opportunity guaranteed through financial resources, and other services. In support of this aim, IHADLA provides year-round academic, emotional, and experiential support to entire grade levels of students from underserved communities for 12+ consecutive years - from 1st grade through high school, and into college - to ensure their college and career success. Upon completion of high school, each student is eligible for an $8,000 scholarship to be used for post-secondary education.

The "I Have A Dream" Foundation-NJ works to ensure that all children have the opportunity to pursue higher education, fulfill their potential, and achieve their dreams. We empower youth, called “Dreamers”, in under-resourced communities to graduate from college by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge, along with tuition support to remove financial barriers. YOU Life Skills and Leadership Educational Foundation is committed to creating highly competent teenagers and young adults by nurturing their identity and personal values and fostering their development into strong leaders within their communities. We do this by teaching each participant to: Lead Yourself: Participants develop the ability to lead themselves by valuing who they are and what makes them special and unique. They learn to make values-based decisions that affect change within their own lives. Reach Outward: By recognizing what motivates them about their own values and qualities, individuals can learn to respect and appreciate the differences in others. This instills a culture of mutual respect which leads to positive changes within families, schools, and communities. Understand the World around you: As individuals gain self-assurance, appreciate diversity, and collaborate with people from different backgrounds, they become equipped to identify the needs in their communities, comprehend those needs, and explore solutions. This empowers them to make a positive impact on the world around them.
