Seniors Services Society of BC

Seniors Services Society offers over fifty years of combined experience serving seniors in New Westminster, across Metro Vancouver and around B.C. The society offers support programs and information for seniors in three distinct areas: Support Services for seniors living in New Westminster; Housing Services for seniors province wide; and information for seniors and service providers throughout the Metro Vancouver via our Community Education department. Annually, Seniors Services Society serves over 4,000 vulnerable and socially isolated seniors across the province.

PARKER STREET FOOD & FURNITURE BANK and THE TURKEY CLUB

PARKER STREET FOOD AND FURNITURE BANK is the working name of the Community Care Network Society. We are dedicated to assisting those in need in HRM who require help to access basic necessities such as food, furniture and education. Donations fill many needs, above all, they bring hope into the lives of families who are struggling daily, year-round. Donations allow us to not only help individuals with these basic necessities but also to help them become self-sufficient by offering training programs that translate into work opportunities. Your support also allows us to provide financial assistance in cases where families or individuals need emergency supplies such as oil for their furnace, help with a power bill, and prescription medication. "Reaching into the Community in Service and Love" THE TURKEY CLUB, founded by Jack Cruickshank in 2004, is dedicated to helping the needy at Christmas.

DOMESTIC ABUSE SERVICES

Domestic Abuse Services (Our Lady of Good Counsel Society) is a registered, non-profit organization founded in 1995, within the Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver, under the auspices of the Catholic Women’s League. We assist anyone seeking safety or recovery from domestic abuse – regardless of religious denomination, race, sex, or creed. Members of the society are: volunteers who uphold Catholic & Christian values; providers of direct services for domestic abuse victims; advocators of non-violence in the community

CENTRE FOR IMMIGRANT AND COMMUNITY SERVICES

CICS has been providing a variety of services and programs to newcomers, immigrants and citizens from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds, helping individuals and families to settle in the local community, build confidence and skills, develop local networks, and connect with the wider community through meaningful activities. With the newly developed community garden and kitchen, we anticipate more exciting development and partnership with diverse community groups and the private sector.

Pointe-à-Callière Foundation

The Foundation's activities and results benefit the Museum in many ways. Through the financial support it provides, the Foundation contributes to research projects, to preserving the remains in the Museum and to developing its collections. It helps produce exhibitions, cultural activities and educational activities for young people.

With 60 employees and 400 volunteers, the YWCA Montreal directly reaches more than 16,000 women and provides services to close to 50,000 people each year. VSAC

We provide services to assist individuals (ages 13 and over) to heal from the devastating effects of sexualized violence. Services include:a 24-hour crisis and information line (250-383-3232), individual and group counselling, victim services support for survivors involved with the criminal justice system, and a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) that provides emergency accompaniment to the hospital for recent survivors of sexual assault. Other services include specialized workshops for family, partners and friends and community education and training. The importance of prevention education for youth is recognized through the delivery of an award-winning program called Project Respect. Teens learn about the issue of sexual violence through school workshops and volunteer training. They are given the confidence and skills to express their own sexual values and boundaries and to promote a culture based on respect for self and others. The Canadian Space Society

The Canadian Space Society (CSS) is a national non-profit organization, a registered charity, and is made up of professionals and enthusiasts pursuing the human exploration and development of the Solar System and beyond. Its principal objective is to stimulate the Canadian space industry through its technical and outreach projects and promote the involvement of Canadians in the development of space. With many of Canada's top space professionals on board, the CSS is made up of people of all backgrounds and interests, including teachers, environmentalists, writers, and marketers. Our principal objective is to sponsor and promote the involvement of Canadians in the development of space.
