South Dakota Humanities Council

Founded in 1972 by the hard work of fellow South Dakotans responding to an act of Congress, the South Dakota Humanities Council (SDHC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is the only cultural organization in the state whose sole mission is to deliver humanities programming to the people of South Dakota. Our vision is to lead statewide advocacy for the humanities, working with other partners to foster literary and civic engagement. Our core mission is to celebrate literature, promote civil conversation, and tell the stories that define our state. We support and promote public programming in the humanities, provide grant funding for community programs and research and discussion projects, and carry out the mission of the South Dakota Center for the Book (established by the Library of Congress in 2002) through reading and literacy programs and the annual Festival of Books.

Grand Canyon Wildlands Council

Grand Canyon Wildlands Council, founded in 1996, is a group of scientists, outdoor enthusiasts, and ardent conservationists working toward creative, science-based solutions to the threats facing the natural systems and wildlife of the Grand Canyon ecoregion. The mission of Grand Canyon Wildlands is to create and apply a dynamic wildlands network that ensures the existence, health, and sustainability of all native species and natural ecosystems in the Grand Canyon and the lands that surround it. To this end, Grand Canyon Wildlands uses hands-on scientific research to inform the management of the region's wildands, wildlife and waters. For example, we are working to identify important habitats like springs and old growth forests that need protection. In addition to "saving the pieces," we are working to heal the region's ecological wounds by restoring native vegetation and returning species that have been extripated like the wolf and the river otter.

THE ALBERTA SAFETY COUNCIL

For over 65 years The Alberta Safety Council (ASC) has been a leader in ‘Making Alberta a Safer Place to Live, Work and Play,’ by offering the most current, cutting edge safety training services, educational materials and safety support to communities across Alberta. Since our inception, we estimate that over 1 million Albertans have been touched by one of our programs. As a self-sustaining charitable organization, the ASC relies on the revenue generated through our programs, services, memberships, as well as the donations and goodwill support from volunteers, individuals, corporations and community partners. But safety comes at a price. Each year, the ASC must turn away thousands seeking safety training and education due to lack of available training space. We must expand our programs and services or run the risk of injury. With your support and a donation, you can ensure that all Albertans stay safe by receiving the necessary training and education to do just that.
