The CAF was launched in 2008 to recognize the vital contributions of arts to lifelong learning, creative expression, and health and well-being in later life. Agencies are encouraged to increase their quality arts-based programming and are supported in planning for enhanced opportunities for engagement. The 2012 CAF will take place June 2-10 and will include arts cafes (opportunities for non-professional older adults to perform at host senior centres and other venues); acting and performance workshops on comedy improv, rock 'n' roll, movement and more; showcase performances by workshop participants and multi-generational drama groups; and a symposium on ways seniors benefit from participating in the arts and how more opportunities can be provided for them to do so.
