We are Canadians who want to reduce suicide and its impact in Canada. We represent experts and volunteers, school and community suicide prevention initiatives, mental health workers, researchers, crisis centres and families who have been impacted by suicide. We are survivors of loss. Among us, we have lost children, parents, family members, neighbours, friends, patients and clients. So have most of you. We want to end the silence. We want to ease the suffering, to heal our communities and our neighbours, as we have healed ourselves. We want to prevent others from experiencing such pain and such loss.
A lot of men find it hard to talk about their feelings and keep their emotions to themselves. Suicide in men is one of the biggest killers in the UK. Chrysalis runs support groups for men aged 34 - 55 . Suicide is a subject people avoid talking about, people don't like to admit to the times they've felt suicidal and this silences a huge factor behind the shocking statistics right now.4,630 isn't just a number, it isn't just a statistic, its the amount of men who took their own life in the UK last year.Men may avoid asking for help because it is sign of weakness. Finding ways to change this perspective is critical. Our support groups are run by volunteers, they provide invaluable spaces for men to come together to share experiences, speak openly about challenges and share information. Its not weak to speak and to share problems with like minded people, this can have great benefits. Whether you're feeling down, lonely or having suicidal thought don't tackle this alone. We are a new organisation and need vital founds to set up support groups across Yorkshire.Help support our campaign. Behind the smile

Burgers and Bands is an event built in and around our community to not only bring awareness and raise funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, but also to show people in our community that they are not alone. Throughout the 8 hour musical event, we have bands rotating on a 30-45 minute schedule; community services tables; and of course great food and community. Burgers and Bands for Suicide Prevention was created as a way to bring our community together around a cause that has affected far too many people, both young and old in Severna Park.
The Central Alberta Women’s Outreach Society has gone through many transitions over the years. It began in 1984 as an agency (Status of Women) devoted to supporting women dealing with women’s Issues, including family violence. In 1988 the agency changed its name to “The Central Alberta Women’s Outreach Society” and expanded its focus to providing basic support services for women and children in response to an overwhelming need identified in the Red Deer Community. Today, domestic and family abuse continues as a foundation in programming, public service, and public education. Priorities are established to ensure initiatives make the best use of generously contributed resources as the organization addresses their very significant mission. Current priorities are: • Domestic/family abuse • Dealing with the effects of poverty on family, especially children • Access to appropriate affordable housing • Assistance while working with/through the legal system
