For many years, 'KSM' has been meeting the needs of Oakville's most vulnerable citizens. Through diverse programs, we have been making a positive difference in the lives of families, seniors socially isolated adults, youth and children in our community. Some of our services include computer and employment training, food bank, meals, counselling, homework clubs, youth drop-in and day care. Our staff, along with over 400 volunteers, is committed to assisting those who come through our doors, regardless of colour, culture, religion, economic status, gender or social condition. We are supported by local businesses, charitable foundations, churches and individuals. Through their support, we are able to support over 5,000 people each year.
We help children obtain an education by the paying school fees and school expenses of elementary and secondary school students through our child scholarship program. We work to keep children with their families supporting grandparents who are caring for their orphaned grandchildren. We partner with Kenyan charities that manage children’s homes (orphanages) and schools. We mitigate the effects of drought by water harvesting through the installation of gutters and tanks which collect rain water from large roofs in arid and semi-arid areas of Kenya. We foster individual self-sustainability by supporting community development projects. We strengthen the church by funding and working directly with local church groups. We help Kenyans to understand and apply universal values and principles that will allow them to succeed and overcome corruption and poverty.
We provide well-balanced, high quality food assistance and other related aid upon request and evaluation.
Feeding the hungry and disadvantaged - hot meals, food hampers, food vouchers, used clothing, furniture and appliances, counselling services for addiction, relations and mental health needs, volunteer tax preparation for low income people, spiritual guidance in the anglican tradition and pastoral care; all provided free of charge. We have no paid employees, and operate entirely by volunteers. All our funding is by way of personal donations. We have no corporate or government sponsorship.
