The Black Futures Lab

The Black Futures Lab transforms Black communities into constituencies that change the way power operates - locally, statewide and nationally. The problems facing our communities are complex - the solutions require experimentation, innovation and political power. We deserve elected officials that represent us, policies that improve our lives, and politics that reflect our lives. There are three ways that Black Futures Lab is a different kind of project for change: our mission to engage Black voters year-round; our commitment to use our political strength to stop corporate influences from creeping into progressive policies; and our plan to combine technology and traditional organizing methods to reach Black people anywhere and everywhere we are.

Movement for Black Lives

During times of great crisis, the systems in America that fail Black people on a normal day become even less reliable and the COVID-19 pandemic is no exception. From mutual aid efforts to disaster relief, Black communities know what's best for Black people. Where we can, we are providing for one another by developing mutual aid networks, organizing, and creating virtual spaces for connection and joy. Where we don’t have enough or where the systems meant to meet the needs of the people fail, we’re demanding more from our elected officials. Your contribution will help us map Black led mutual aid efforts, provide direct support to Black led organizations and provide a virtual space for our people at this time.

National Black Justice Coalition

NBJC's mission is to end racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ bias and stigma. As America's leading national Black LGBTQ civil rights organization focused on federal public policy, NBJC has accepted the charge to lead Black families in strengthening the bonds and bridging the gaps between the movements for racial justice and LGBTQ equality. Since 2003, NBJC has provided leadership at the intersection of national civil rights groups and LGBTQ organizations, advocating for the unique challenges and needs of the African American LGBTQ community that are often relegated to the sidelines. NBJC envisions a world where all people are fully-empowered to participate safely, openly, and honestly in family, faith, and community, regardless of race, class, gender identity, or sexual orientation. NBJC's programmatic work aims to build partnerships and provide cultural competency training and education—moving beyond tokenization to more intentional diversity and inclusion strategies in both African American spaces and in LGBTQ spaces.
