Hastings Center

The Hastings Center addresses social and ethical issues in health care, science, and technology. Through our projects and publications, The Hastings Center shapes ideas that influence key opinion leaders, including health policy-makers, regulators, health care professionals, lawyers, legislators, and judges. Our analyses also influence professional practice: from end-of-life care to psychiatric practice to immigrant health care, we have helped to shape the standards of practice adopted by physicians, nurses, and lawyers. Founded in 1969 by philosopher Daniel Callahan and psychoanalyst Willard Gaylin, The Hastings Center is the oldest independent, nonpartisan, interdisciplinary research institute of its kind in the world.

Baldwin provides services to fulfill basic needs and provide tools for children and adults to gain economic self-sufficiency and personal wholeness. The center is a safe place where bellies are filled, where children can play and learn without fear of violence, and where people can recover their dignity and find respect.

Spectrum Center

The Spectrum Center was founded in 2014 with the purpose of being a resource and an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community in and around Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The Spectrum Center is serving as a host location for meetings for various groups affiliated with the LGBTQ+ community. Currently, we have free HIV testing and other health-related functions through collaboration with the greater community; social functions and support groups. However, long-term plans include providing counseling, a community kitchen and pantry; and short-term emergency housing for LGBTQ+ youth who have been displaced.

Craddock Center

The mission of The Craddock Center is to deliver educational and cultural programs to young children, families, and individual communities in Southern Appalachia. The area we serve consists of nine (9) counties including Dawson, Gilmer, Fannin, Lumpkin, Pickens, Towns, and Union Counties in Georgia, Polk County in Tennessee, and Cherokee County in North Carolina. Our role in promoting the mission of The Craddock Center is best described through active, hands-on outreach to the very young in preschool and Head Start programs. Samaritan Center

The Samaritan Center is a 501c3, interfaith effort of community members committed to serving the hungry and those in need in order to promote their welfare dignity and self sufficiency. It is rooted in the belief that sound nutrition is the first step in enabling people to cope and become productive, self-sufficient members of society. Since 1981 Samaritan Center has worked to fight hunger in the greater Syracuse community by providing nutritious hot meals to anyone in need 7 days a week – no questions asked. Paired with these meals is the case management support and access to services that help our guests move on to a more positive future.
