COUCHICHING JUBILEE HOUSE

Women in crisis may find themselves homeless or at risk of being homeless. Most find themselves feeling isolated and alone. Women who are leaving an abusive situation, pregnant without support, battling relationships, or are vulnerable in any way can access the services of Couchiching Jubilee House. Transitional housing is offered for up to one year in a fully furnished apartment, with room for children, too! The staff and volunteers help the women to access the community resources they need. Together with the community professionals, staff and volunteers support the woman in reaching her personal goals. She may return to school; she might find employment; regular counselling might be of assistance; parenting courses may be taken. Whatever it takes, the staff and volunteers will help. And after being a resident, the support can still continue. For a woman wanting to improve her life, Couchiching Jubilee House offers a safe haven, and links to services and people who care.

Kids come to Covenant House from every part of Canada and from every social and economic background. Most are fleeing or have been forced out of homes where there is abuse and neglect. The street is a dangerous and often deadly place for kids. Our doors are open to youth 16 to 24 regardless of race, creed, gender or the circumstances that have brought them to our threshold. Covenant House has helped thousands of young people move from a life on the streets to a life with a future. On average, about 4,000 young people turn to us annually.
