ABBOTSFORD ARTS COUNCIL

Established in 1972, the Abbotsford Arts Council acts as a resource for local artists while promoting the vision, creativity, and energy of the Abbotsford community through the arts. BARRIE LITERACY COUNCIL

Established in 1979, the Barrie Literacy Council was formed to respond to the needs of adults who have trouble with reading, writing, and math. A charitable and volunteer organization, the Council subscribes to the philosophy of “Each One Teach One”, and does so by pairing one tutor with one student at the student’s convenience. With the latest statistics estimating that 26% of Simcoe County residents cannot perform basic reading functions, the Literacy Council is dedicated to raising awareness in order to attract volunteer tutors, potential students, sponsors and the general public
