Ruffian Foundation

The Ruffian Foundation (RF) was established in 2004, as an all volunteer nonprofit 501 C (3) organization, to provide a sanctuary for feral cats.  Many of these cats are driven from their local habitats by rapid human economic development and neglect. They face suffering and often, death.  Whenever possible, the ruffian foundation, in cooperation with similar agencies, will trap, alter, vaccinate, relocate, and care for them in natural enclosures on the sanctuary grounds (28 acres).  It will also strive to educate the public on humane solutions for feral cat overpopulation and related community health concerns.

Myocarditis is a poorly understood, under-diagnosed and often misdiagnosed disease which can progress rapidly to heart failure and death. The Myocarditis Foundation's primary mission is to provide relevant, accurate, up-to-date information about the nature of myocarditis and its various presentations to a world-wide audience of medical professionals and the public at large. The Foundation attempts to bridge the gap in awareness and understanding of the diseases that cause inflammation and damage to cardiac tissue, so that effective treatment can be administered in a timely fashion and more lives can be saved

Blackbird Foundation

Mission: The purposes of the Blackbird Foundation, formerly known as 'Alik'alak'wa'ishe, are to create and operate a Chumash Indian religious, educational and cultural center and to enable children to learn traditional, academic, environmental and culturally relevant subjects and to raise and provide funds for the support of, and to carry on, the forgoing and other charitable activities. Transition to Organics is a program of the Blackbird Foundation. 1 out of every 5 children and youth has a mental health problem. Two-thirds of these children aren’t receiving the help they need. Without treatment, these children may experience school failure, family conflict, substance abuse, violence, and even suicide. Effective prevention and treatment programs exist; however, more resources are required to ensure all children with mental health problems and their families receive the help they need. The Kinark Foundation supports prevention, education, respite and treatment programs. We fund a range of initiatives including research, pilot projects, services for children, youth and families, collaborative community-based projects, and equipment/capital needs.
