Teen Talk App is a free and non-sectarian program of Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles. Teen Talk App provides a free, anonymous, safe space for teens to request support from trained peers who are supervised by licensed clinicians. Teen Talk App creates a positive space for teens who are looking for support, to vent or to find others going through similar experiences. Research indicates that improved engagement and connection with peers increases protective factors known to decrease serious mental health crisis in young people. The positive interaction teens have on the Teen Talk App with a peer is often the first step towards seeking help. The app is available to teens worldwide and accessible through both the iOS and Android platform.
We believe every child should have the opportunity to reach his or her full potential, both as individuals and citizens –that by doing so, they will not only do well, they will also do good. Serving as role models, our mentors teach by example the importance of giving and giving back, of staying in school, and of having respect for family, peers and community. Each time we pair a child with a mentor or introduce a group of students to an in-school program, we start something incredible – a life-changing relationship built on friendship, trust and empowerment. Witnessing the transformation of a child into a confident, concerned and motivated young person is a remarkable thing. Ushering them into adulthood, seeing them grow into a successful, responsible member of their community and society at large is even more satisfying. We are Big Brothers Big Sisters and we believe in the value and values of mentoring.
We help children build their futures by empowering them to realize their own potential. Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth
Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth
Our Mission is to ensure all children achieve success in life. Our Vision is to provide children facing adversity with strong, enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Mentoring is about the power of friendship. The volunteers and young people in our programs experience the magic of everyday moments when they are shared with a friend. Everyone needs someone to laugh with, share a dream with, and just hang out... with friends it's the little things that mean the most.
We find and match volunteer mentors with children, between the ages of 6-16. Children who are matched with a mentor are less likely to participate in drugs and alcohol and less likely drop out of school. They are more likely to complete high school and go to post secondary school, as well they have better relationships with their peers and other adults.
Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
