LOUGHEED HOUSE

Lougheed House is a national and provincial historic site owned by the Province of Alberta and operated by Lougheed House Conservation Society. Lougheed House Conservation Society is a non-profit society, devoted to the restoration and public enjoyment of the historic Lougheed House. Also known as Beaulieu, Lougheed House was home to Senator James Alexander Lougheed, Lady Isabella Hardisty Lougheed, their six children and staff. This grand sandstone prairie mansion was built in 1891 and enlarged in 1907; the impressive scale and the high quality of the design, materials and interior furnishings of the house reflected the wealth and prestige of the Lougheeds. An article in the Calgary Daily Herald claimed it was "one of the finest residences in the Canadian northwest."

HARMONY HOUSE

Harmony House is a second-stage women's shelter. We provide safe, affordable transitional housing for women and children who are survivors of violence. We are located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Harmony House is the only second stage shelter in Eastern Ontario. At Harmony House, survivors of violence find: • Someone who believes them and will listen • A safe place to live • Other women and children who understand what they are going through • Help finding a lawyer, legal aid, affordable permanent housing and whatever else they may need • Time to rest, think things through and make decisions about the future • A chance to start over

Oxford House

Oxford House, Inc. exists to educate individuals and private and public entities in the benefits of the Oxford House concept of group homes for recovering substance abusers. It allocates all resources, including grant funds, property donations, and available personnel, to replicate democratically self-run and self-supported Oxford Houses to assist in the recovery of substance abusers.

Sojourner House

The mission of Sojourner House is to promote healthy relationships by providing culturally sensitive support, advocacy, housing, and education for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking; and to effect systems change.

Carty House

Carty House was established ten years ago as transitional housing for immigrant women. Over the years, and now in its second location, the program has come to focus on women who are refugee claimants or government sponsored refugees. The House has eight bedrooms and comfortable common areas available for the women. They are expected to contribute both financially and in kind with shared responsibility for cooking and household chores. In return, they receive compassionate, purposeful service from staff and volunteers, including tutoring and help with accessing healthcare, employment programs and appropriate housing. There have also been powerful examples of reunification with children arriving from overseas after persistent effort on the part of Carty House.

Yaffa House

The Vancouver Yaffa Housing Society was organized in 1993 for the specific purpose of creating housing facilities having Jewish cultural and ethnic atmosphere and offering opportunities for those with mental disabilities to participate within the Jewish Community.
