An Insightful Journey (A.I.J.) 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization
The original project initiated a conversation surrounding three critical target concepts: a disconnected world, social justice issues, and inequitable health care. The founder of An Insightful Journey (A.I.J.) executed the project as a scholarly endeavor in her Master of Social Work program in partnership with A.I.J. The explicit focus of this conversation was to identify where these concepts intersect and work well or where they can be improved. This conversation started by collecting stories from community members through filmed interviews.
Throughout the project duration, the cultivation and demonstration of A.I.J.'s values to Collaborate, Advocate, Resource, Research, and Educate (C.A.R.R.E.) illuminated grassroots efforts at its core. This project was essential to the social work profession because it exhibited that nonprofits can still operate in their essence despite the complex nature of the nonprofit industrial complex. The author's project facilitation utilized a bottom-up approach that fostered empowerment theory and honored Anti-Oppressive Practice (A.O.P.). Our community members' engagement has put something much larger than themselves into motion—a grassroots movement to address inequitable health care.
Below is a chronological overview of our efforts, including our policy brief, committee activities, and an exciting new partnership expanding student engagement in health equity.

Student Engagement in Health Equity Initiatives—Partnership
A critical development in the post-project and post-committee phases has been the partnership with California State University Stanislaus Master of Social Work Program. This partnership allows students and faculty to play an active role in the development and implementation of health initiatives, while also contributing valuable research and resources to assess their effectiveness.
