Rebels for Peace is a youth-led initiative in south side Chicago committed to improving mental health, uncovering resilience, and providing credible and sustainable social-emotional learning skills and mentorship to the next generation.
The Rebels for Peace delivers 2 cornerstone programs.
1. Rebels for Peace Youth Leaders – A transformational leadership program for south side Chicago youth ages 16-25 designed to improve mental health, uncover resilience, and teach them how to mentor the next generation. Armed with the power of their mind and unwavering commitment to unity and peace, the Rebels for Peace are improving their own lives and leading the way for the next generation to not only survive but THRIVE.
2. The Mini Rebels for Peace – An interactive, engaging, and evidence-based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program taught by the Rebels for Peace youth leaders to 4th-8th grade students in south side Chicago public schools that decreases conflict, violence, and behavioral issues by increasing mental health, resilience, and problem-solving capacity
In the past 5 years, we have grown from living room to livingroom to serving 700 students annually. Due to increased demand and feedback from principals we have grown from 200 to 600 students served annually in 2023. However, due to abrupt budget cuts in the summer of 2024 in Chicago Public School, our students are at risk to losing access to our mental health services.
We are reaching out to our community to collectively raise $300,000 to ensure that we can provide mental health support to our 4th-8th graders.
To help you can:
– Sponsor a student for $450 (or $40 per month) for a year.
– Sponsor a class of 25 students for $12,000 for a year.
– Sponsor an entire school for $48,000 for a year.
If you’re unable to reach these significant numbers, every dollar counts and gets us closer to our goal.
We thank you for your support and your commitment to providing mental health education and mentorship for kids in Chicago’s most under-resourced communities!
