Welcome to the fundraiser page for "Solid" (18 Year Old Arabian Mare), a dedicated initiative aimed at supporting this beautiful mare "Solid" in leading a supportive and healthy life. We invite you to join us in this heartfelt mission to ensure that "Solid" receives the care and love she deserves, all while benefiting the incredible nonprofit organization, Melody's Haven of Hope at Oregon Horsemanship. "Solid" was previously a show horse that had a facial injury that ended her career (she was not "pretty" or "perfect" anymore) as a broodmare "Solid" had a full life.
When "Solid" came to us last year it was unexpected that she had both Cushings and Insulin Resistance along with signs of ulcers. We were not able to get medications for her until all blood work and veterinary intervention was done. We spent money from our sanctuary to get her on track with feeling good again. While waiting for the results from the tests and bloodwork, her condition grew worse and we had to doctor her back to health. When we got all the test results back, we discovered that her numbers were extremely high and she would need expensive medication to support her or we would potentially loose "Solid" to her disease. It took months to get her back on track and have had to take periodic bloodwork to make sure her numbers are stable. The diseases made her uncomfortable so being part of our regular program was not possible however she was not intended to be on sanctuary. We felt that we needed to get her completely stable and maintain her comfort then see where we go from there. We are at the point where we need to make hard decisions on her care and whether she can stay with us. We will not allow a horse to be in our program and not be cared for to our utmost ability however, her monthly cost is extensive and it is time to make a decision on her future with us. We are asking for sponsors to help continue to support her in her needs which we are listing below. If her monthly maintenance is covered the decision will be easier for us to make on what direction we need to make for her future.
