As we embrace the spirit of this giving season, please consider the gift of wildlife protection, by sponsoring a wildlife ranger from ZIWA Rhino Sanctuary. 

The magnificent rhinoceros was poached to extinction in Uganda by 1983. In 2006, in an effort to reverse the damage, Uganda Wildlife Authority acquired 6 white rhinos, releasing them on forever-wild property now known as ZIWA Rhino Sanctuary. Through diligent conservation efforts, 24-hour surveillance, and a lot of hard work, ZIWA is now home to 42 white rhinos, with hopes to one day release and restore rhino to historical habitat throughout Uganda.    

In keeping these animals safe from the peril of poachers—rhino horn has a black-market value in the tens of thousands per kilo—armed UWA rangers live amongst the rhinos, 24-7-365. These rangers are their guardians. Each ranger works a schedule of 20 days straight, packing enough gear to follow rhino groups for days, even weeks at a time, making the need for essential supplies that much more important. These unsung heroes could use all the help they can get!

This holiday season, we are raising $3,000 to outfit 20 rangers with rain suits, range finders, and hydration backpacks. Every donation, big or small, makes an impact! Here’s how you can contribute:

• $40: Provide one ranger with a durable rain suit.
• $50: Supply a ranger with a hydration backpack to keep them energized.
• $60: Equip a ranger with a range finder for precise wildlife monitoring.
• $150: Fully outfit one ranger with all three essential items!

And, with your blessing, they'll receive a written note that identifies you as their sponsor. In return, you’ll receive a photo of your ranger joyously holding the item(s) you sponsored.
