It's called 'homework' for a reason: students need a home in the first place to complete their assignments and thrive academically. Coming from the foster care system, family conflict or tragedy, undocumented legal status, or being disowned because of your gender are often reasons why students end up without a place to call home or enough food to eat.
3 million students dropped out in 2020 due to a financial crisis of less than $500.
Students face job loss, eviction, domestic violence, lack of resources to adapt to online learning. These become dominoes, making them more vulnerable than ever of dropping out, and the thousands of opportunities across a lifetime that it represents. We heard from so many students teetering on the edge of financial despair, just one emergency, just one domino away from toppling over into crushing debt.
$500 can mean the difference for a student to finish their degree, or ending up with no diploma, all of the debt. That’s the sharp cliff that students can tumble down. Talent is universal, opportunity is not (yet). These are the high-impact opportunities that Student MOJO leverages, to keep students on track as graduation approaches.
100% of your support will go directly to helping these students.
Thank you for believing in them, and the idea that the dinner is not just food, it carries the power and love that comes at the dinner table; that housing is more than four walls, it is an antidepressant, a sleep aid, and a sense of belonging. We are thankful to support students who need it the most alongside you!
