Many in the US and abroad are asking how they can help. The organizations here have people on the ground actively helping get food and supplies to people and soldiers in need, support with medical procedures, and more. These organizations have a track record of operating quickly, effectively, and at scale. That's what is needed now. You can donate to all of them or choose the ones that speak most to you. We will personally be funding $50k+ across these organizations.
About these organizations
Lev Echad (One Heart) - One Heart was founded out of an understanding that at times of emergency, recruiting civilians for active volunteering has the capability of taking them out of the passive victim loop, creating social-civil resilience, and dramatically multiplying the power of the local municipality – so long as the civilian volunteers are organized and mobilized effectively.
Brothers and Sisters for Israel - We are a 100% civilian voluntary based operation, so that every dollar donated goes directly and entirely to the actual goods and services that are needed. Since the onset of this war, we have been running an unprecedented Civil Emergency Headquarters. Our teams collect requirements both bottoms up as well as tops down, to make sure real needs are met. Accordingly, we mobilize critical resources, including food, water, clothing, medical equipment and aid, provide accommodation for displaced families, evacuate those in war zones, locate missing individuals, procure vital equipment, and much more.
“They are the largest and most organized group. Many of my friends work on the ground there and they report execution at a level that they don't see in the best run companies.”
Giving Group Community (The Giving Back Fund) - Direct giving in Ashkelon and the surrounding areas. Some of the recent activities GGC has done include -
Currently looking to support the people of Nachal Oz -
Rabin Medical Center - The Department of Neurosurgery at Rabin Medical Center is currently taking care of multiple wounded civilians and soldiers that suffer head and spinal column injuries from the current violence. As the largest Neurosurgery department in Israel, the department must also continue caring for patients that are diagnosed with brain and spine lesions. While the department is marginally equipped to meet its growing demands during peaceful times, we are currently faced with surgical equipment deficiencies due to a surge in urgent patient influx.
The Neurosurgery department at Rabin Medical Center would be grateful for an opportunity to care for multiple patients simultaneously, by acquiring surgical equipment that is required for an additional neurosurgical operating room.
As the leading Neurosurgery department in Israel in terms of the number of attending surgeons, number of residents trained, and number of annual surgeries, we are faced with ongoing shortage in surgical equipment to meet the growing needs of our population. We would therefore be grateful for donations that will allow the department to meet the growing needs to provide state-of-the-art patient care both during peace and war.
Soroka Medical Center - Soroka Medical Center, located in Beer-Sheva, is one of Israel’s largest, most active, and most strategically significant hospitals, serving more than million residents in a region that comprises 60% of the country’s land area. In light of the hospital’s location, the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Trauma Unit face unique challenges. We are proud that this department was declared a National Center of Excellence by Clalit Health Services this year.
Barzilai Medical Center - Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon was built in 1961 and provides advanced medical services to a population of approximately 600,000 citizens in peacetime and emergencies, in a region of Israel that is defined as part of the periphery, in the city of Ashkelon, its environs and the Gaza Envelope region.
The center has 643 inpatient beds, 60 outpatient beds and provides highly advanced medical and healthcare to inpatients and through its clinics and institutes.
Owing to the medical center’s location, we take part in combat operations, the center’s staff members are prepared and skilled in admission and providing lifesaving medical care for civilians and soldiers in peacetime and in emergencies.
To date, Barzilai Medical Center has received 440 casualties of varying degrees of severity, including multisystem trauma, mostly in a serious and some in a critical condition.
The hospital is facing a direct rocket attack – on the morning of 8.10.2023, there was a direct hit by a rocket in the center of the hospital near the Department of Gynecology and an operating room.
Despite the incessant rocket attacks from Gaza, the hospital’s devoted, brave staff is acting unflaggingly to save victims and protect inpatients and staff members.
The shocking, devastating attacks against Israel have left all of us in a state of disbelief. Today we write to you with an urgent, hearty call for supporting Barzilai Medical Center, which, owing to its location in Ashkelon is on the front
near the Gaza Strip. A list of equipment that is required by Barzilai Medical Center has been sent out and we hope to begin purchasing that equipment ASAP. The hospital’s management thanks you for your willingness to help in raise money for donations at this time.
Our money is already being deployed to buy food for people in need in Ashkelon. Thank you!
October 24, 2023 - The rockets from Gaza and the north continue to drop all over Israel. In the past two days GGC has continued to bring support to families in distress in the South: mattresses to sleep on, fans and emergency lights for shelters, food vouchers to help people in need eat and back up generators for public shelters. Your money is going in and being deployed within hours or a couple days at most. If you have folks in your network that can give please share this fundraiser with them.
