💕 A Message from the organizer, Luis:

I'm 50 this year, and I want to do something special together with friends and family: show support for the outdoors. The outdoors keeps me feeling young at heart. Parks are some of the most important places for people to enjoy the health and wellness benefits of the outdoors. California has a world-class system of 280 state parks. Parks California is the official nonprofit partner of these parks, as well as a years-long supporter of Latino Outdoors, the nonprofit I work with. Join me in celebrating my milestone birthday by supporting Parks California, helping me reach my $2,500 goal (50 x $50 or donations of any amount), and by getting outdoors to enjoy a park near you! We believe in the promise and potential of the next generation of park stewards. The work we do helps people from diverse background build connections with parks and benefit from a connection to nature, history, and culture. With each gift you generously contribute, another young person can take another step toward expanding their connection with nature and their impact on the future of parks.

Specifically, our Career Pathways, Route To Parks, and passPORTS programs enable young people to take important steps toward a lifelong relationship with parks. That lifelong relationship can lead to decades of active stewardship of California’s treasured parks.

When you contribute, you create opportunities for young people to build meaningful connections, and you invest in the promise and potential of the next generation of park stewards

You'll also help make parks more climate resilient so they remain healthy and available to all people for the next one hundred years and more. Our Landscape Scale Partnerships and Climate Fellows programs pilot projects in parks to address critical issues across the largest and most diverse state park system in the U.S. Addressing coastal erosion, wild fire, sea-level rise, habitat destruction, and other impacts of climate change across the diverse biomes of California, we are able to build frameworks, programs, and practices that can inform climate resilience world wide in the years ahead.
