Welcoming 350 New Arrival Families

Put love into action by hosting a Friendsgiving event of your own in support of Miry’s List families. 2024 Friendsgiving with Miry’s List is a celebration fundraiser to support 350 more families next year by bringing friends together to share a meal, fostering a sense of community and gratitude.

Remember your first day at school or a new job? That mix of nervousness, excitement, and longing for familiarity? For families resettling as refugees in a new country, feeling like an outsider can be intense and complicated, especially after fleeing violence and trauma. They face challenges like learning a new language, adapting to a different culture, and dealing with isolation and anxiety.

Miry’s List is a nonprofit focused on supporting resettling refugee families in the U.S. We improve their experiences and strengthen our communities by providing essential resources, friendship, and a support network to help newcomers adjust and thrive. Our 12-month program offers household items, English classes, and mental wellbeing support.

Since our founding, we’ve assisted over 1,300 families from various countries and engaged more than 280,000 Americans in welcoming their new neighbors. To keep this momentum, we aim to support 350 more families in 2025, envisioning a future where all refugees can rebuild their lives in welcoming communities.

Miry's List encourages Friendsgiving gatherings as a way to raise awareness and funds for for our new arrival neighbors. By hosting a Friendsgiving fundraiser and event, you transform your holiday celebration into a meaningful act of kindness. This initiative not only strengthens friendships but also provides crucial support to individuals who are rebuilding their lives in a new country.

Friendsgiving is your biggest opportunity of the year to help Miry's List families. Our goal is to raise $250,000 to support 350 more resettling families in 2025. You can help by setting up your own fundraising page or giving directly to the campaign, and by hosting your own Friendsgiving event to share the message of welcoming and invite the people who are important to you to join you in supporting new arrivals through Miry’s List.

Level 1: Join the campaign

Tell the people in your world why Miry’s List is an organization that is important to you and your family. This is a great option for students, clubs, teams, or a workplace challenge with your colleagues.

Level 2: Host your own Friendsgiving dinner and invite your friends

Gathering around the table with your loved ones is the ideal setting to reflect on the impact of Miry’s List, the message of welcoming resettling American families into our communities, and putting love into action.

Explore another culture with your family by serving special recipes shared by chefs and talk about becoming welcomers in your community. Invite family and chosen family to participate in your Friendsgiving fundraiser and come together in celebration of our shared values.  Use our Friendsgiving host kit with recipes, conversation prompts, and more to make your event fun and successful.
