Bullies 2 The Rescue

Bullies 2 the Rescue (B2TR for short) and our volunteers have been helping pure-bred bullies and their families for almost 10 years now. We are a licensed North Carolina shelter and a 501c3 charitable organization. The care we provide our English Bullie rescues exceeds any you will find from a breed rescue. This love includes a high quality diet, the best veterinary care around from a bulldog specialist, and behavioral evaluations of the highest quality. We offer nutrition and lifelong wellness support to every adopter. We serve the state of North Carolina, the state of South Carolina and the state of Alabama. Made up of 150 volunteers, B2TR has rehomed almost 350 bullies and counseled hundreds of families to provide support, encouragement and training consults to help keep bullies in their homes. The national economic downturn in the past few years has presented some unexpected challenges for B2TR with an unprecedented rise in bulldog surrenders both by owner families and various animal care and control organizations that turn to B2TR for assistance in appropriate placements. Our dedicated group of volunteers has enabled us to not only respond to this increased need for our services but also to strategically expand both our service area and our exceptional Rescue Program which focuses on allergy issues, skin problems and large scale surrender situations.

Long Beach Spay & Neuter

ABOUT LONG BEACH SPAY AND NEUTER FOUNDATION: https://www.facebook.com/LongBeachSN/ Operating since 1997 and formally established in 2004, Long Beach Spay and Neuter Foundation (LBSN) is committed to reducing pet overpopulation and improving the welfare of animals in greater Long Beach, California. We are an all-volunteer, not-for-profit (501(c)(3)), no-kill cat/dog rescue group. We rely exclusively on adoption fees and donations for our operating budget of typically less than $50,000 per year, most of which goes to veterinary expenses. Every year we are forced to turn away more people and animals than we are actually able to help due to insufficient funds. Services we provide include: Low cost spay/neuter assistance and veterinary referrals Basic pet welfare services, including flea/parasite/deworming treatment and routine vaccinations Adoption services for cats and a limited number of dogs (although the latter is growing rapidly) Assistance with trapping stray and feral animals Educational materials to promote successful pet ownership Assistance to feral cat caretakers with spay/neutering and trapping We receive no tax dollars, no municipal, state or federal funds, and none of our members are paid for their time. Since 1997, we have placed thousands of homeless cats rescued from the streets and saved through community efforts. In 2012 alone, we facilitated the sterilization of 624 animals and thereby prevented the births of thousands of unwanted animals. In addition, we found homes for 122 animals and funded medical treatment for 57 cats and dogs. OUR MISSION: Our mission is to stop the unnecessary suffering of animals caused by tremendous pet overpopulation, especially in Southern California. We strongly advocate the spaying and neutering of all pets regardless of breed, sex, or age as it is the most effective way to limit the number of animals born into situations of inadequate care and/or abuse and to end the senseless killing of healthy animals by our animal shelter system. We support the transformation of Long Beach into a No-Kill community, where no healthy, adoptable companion-animal is destroyed. We believe the only way this can be achieved is through aggressive, proactive approaches that focus on programs that save lives, specifically spay/neutering, fostering, volunteering and educating. We also believe you cannot ignore the stray and feral populations and thus practice Trap Neuter Return (TNR) and subsequent feeding and care of these animals. Established in 2004, Long Beach Spay Neuter Foundation mission is to reduce animal suffering caused by pet overpopulation and to improve the welfare of animals in the greater Long Beach, California area. Specifically, we strongly advocate that all animals are spayed and neutered, regardless of breed, sex, or age. By spaying/neutering, we are reducing the number of cats and dogs born into situations of inadequate care and abuse. We are also limiting the numbers of unwanted animals relinquished to Long Beach Animal Care Services. where they are often euthanized for lack of space. This program offers spay and neuter assistance and basic veterinary treatment - including flea and parasite treatment and routine vaccinations - to needy or unowned animals, typically cats. It also provides humane education to community and civic groups on the care of animals and the importance of spaying/neutering in population control. The organization also has a limited intake, no-kill adoption program. Most animals are rescued from the streets. All animals are in foster homes. Animals are never euthanized for space. OUR ADOPTION PROGRAM: Cats and dogs that are rescued by LBSN are fostered in our own homes, so our caregivers have keen insight into the animals available for adoption. This includes insight into what kind of an environment, including food, toys, litter, and co-inhabitants (other pets, children, etc.), will make for a successful adoption and what homes should not be considered. We visit the homes of people that are interested prior to adopting out any animal and check veterinarian references for those who have previously owned pets. In addition, we perform a formal written and verbal evaluation of the potential adopter to ensure that our rescued animals are being placed in a loving, forever home that is best suited for both the adoptee and adopter.

We are very pleased with the growth and support of the Foundation from people in and outside of the animal community. We are proud of the impact we’ve had and change we have created and inspired in such a short period of time. That shows us people want to take action and that behavior we strongly encourage because if we are to ever get law makers to end BSL, and get off the giant hamster wheel that is rescue, we must ALL do what we can. We are a solution driven Foundation open to new ways of doing things. We understand this is a long journey and we are dedicated to ending the abuse and discrimination of Pit Bull “type” dogs and by doing so improving the safety of communities for humans and pets. We believe what is happening to Pit Bull “type” dogs is not just an animal issue but very much a direct reflection of a broken society thus making it EVERYONE’s problem. While we are members of the animal community we are members of society first and feel a responsibility as members of our society to not tolerate hate and discrimination.

Medina Raptor Center

Established in 1990, the Medina Raptor Center is now one of Ohio’s leading raptor rehabilitation facilities. We specialize in birds of prey but also work with songbirds, treating hundreds of birds each year. Most come to us with human-involved injuries like motor vehicle collisions, poisoning (often by pesticides) or gunshot wounds. Many are also the result of territory battles with other birds or cat attacks. All birds receive individual attention, appropriate veterinary care, physical therapy, and conditioning or training before we return them to the wild. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release displaced, injured, sick or orphaned birds, including endangered and threatened species. The goal, whenever possible, is to return them to their natural habitat. We also believe it is our responsibility to inform and educate the general public on best conservation practices and protection of wild birds and their natural habitats. Ultimately, we want to ensure that humans and wildlife can coexist peacefully and effectively. MRC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization licensed by both state and federal agencies. We operate solely on the generosity of our donors, supporters and volunteers -- all of whom donate their time, funds and supplies.

Senior Dog Sanctuary of Maryland Inc

The Senior Dog Sanctuary of Maryland strives to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome senior dogs. We will provide a permanent safe haven if the dog is not adopted. Many of the dogs that come through our doors were unable to be cared for by their owners, were abandoned or abused, or faced euthanasia. We opened in 2016 and have had over 700 dogs adopted out. We provide the medical care needed by each senior dog, including a full senior panel, and whatever care is needed up to and including surgery. Almost every senior dog needs a dental upon arrival. We spend, on average, $3,000 per dog. Our goal is to give them a second chance at life in a loving home. We want them to be as healthy as possible. We provide medication and most of the dogs are required to have prescription dog food to help with their medical conditions. We have a brick and mortar facility with kennels and a quarantine building. Our small but dedicated staff, as well as our wonderful volunteers spend time with the dogs and provide enrichment activities to keep them engaged. We also have a foster and hospice program so that the dogs can live in a home environment whenever possible. We give dogs with behavioral issues training to help them become more adoptable. We have also initiated a Seniors 2 Seniors Program to help senior citizens keep their pets by providing free dog and cat food. Thank you for considering the Senior Dog Sanctuary of Maryland.

Dogs In Danger Rescue

We are a small rescue group operating in the Massachusetts, New Jersey and the New York area that only rescues dogs from high kill shelters and southern rescues. This means a majority of dogs admitted there are euthanized due to lack of space. We very rarely take in owner surrenders, and do not acquire animals from anywhere else besides these shelters we have worked with for years. When we started the rescue in 2007, our collective mission was clear: save at-risk dogs from high-kill shelters and place them in loving, forever homes for the benefit of the dogs and humans alike. We believe the best way to end pet overpopulation and animal cruelty is a unified front with local shelters, other rescue groups and the community. We were so committed to this that we used to drive 12 hour days to save homeless animals, and bring them back to our houses. Now we use USDA certified transporters, and we are proud to be a 501c3 non-profit agency that saves many lives each year. Dogs In Danger Rescue (we are not dogsindanger.com) is our rescue originally based in Maryland but, since we expanded to 4 other states, we are now DBA East Coast Adoption Agency.
