The Umkhumbane Schools Project is an innovative partnership with and among the five secondary schools in the historic Cato Manor township area near Durban, South Africa. With a specific focus on mathematics and science, we are working to improve academic outcomes and enhance access to tertiary education in a disadvantaged community full of vitality and promise. Our approach models an innovative NGO-schools partnership that can be replicated in other disadvantaged settings.

We provide Peer Support in a myriad of ways to our SMVDS. We help improve the quality of life for our SMVDS and provide opportunities for our SMVDS to volunteer and give back.

We strive to bring together resources to help relieve the unexpected financial burdens experienced.. We raise money to support our mission and to help them prevent eviction, utility disconnect, vehicle repossession, and more. Our overall goal is to help people actively battling cancer get the services necessary and ultimately increase survivorship.
