It is our mission to neuter, vaccinate, test and provide medical intervention for every feline that passes through our doors, in addition to more than 7 feral populations. In 2018, we accepted more than 348 cats and adopted out more than 257 - bringing the total number of adoptions since we opened our shelter in 2011 to more than 1789 cats and kittens.The average cost of medical procedures for each cat entering our shelter is over $550.We receive no municipal funding from any town, and many state programs have been eliminated.Our operating costs in all areas- rent, shelter maintenance, supplies, and veterinary care- continue to increase. With the exception of one paid shelter manager, our shelter is run entirely by dedicated volunteers.Our future depends on the generosity of people like you. Our cats’ lives depend on you!
The Missionary Society of St. Columban is entrusted by the Holy Father with part of the Church's mission "to spread the Faith and saving work of Christ." (Vat. II) The Society works under the guidance of the Sacred Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and under the leadership of the bishops. We are listed in the U.S. Official Catholic Director published annually by (C)P.J. Kenedy and sons. As such, the Internal Revenue Service recognizes us as a religious not-for-profit corporation, therefore contributions to our work are tax deductible. We employ no outside professional fund-raisers and pay no commissions.

The Whispering Seed is a village based Home for Children and Sustainable Living and Learning Centre working in Myanmar and Thailand since 2004. We are a US registered 501 C3, tax-exempt charitable organization striving to bridge the traditions of sustainability and holistic education through innovative programs, trainings and design, drawing on the richness of local wisdom and traditional cultures along with renewed, socially appropriate models. With a pioneering spirit, Whispering Seed strives to support and build partnerships and collaborations between local groups within Myanmar and South and Southeast Asia, as well as with the international community. By supporting the diversity of cultures and richness of traditional wisdom within Myanmar along with the integration of new models for learning and sustainable development we are searching for creative solutions to the variety of challenges which Myanmar will face throughout the next critical years of development. WS is focused on five critical areas of development. With a holistic and integrated approach we aim to support the growth and development of a new society which is representative of the rich diversity of peoples and cultures of Myanmar. Better Days creates spaces and customizes quality humanitarian programs for unaccompanied minors and other refugees living in Greece. Some of our most successful projects, The Olive Grove/ Better Days for Moria (2015-16), Elpida Refugee Centre in Thessaloniki (2016) Medical & Legal Intervention in Moria camp (2017), TAPUAT Child & Family Hub (2018) and our flagship Gekko Kids. Currently, we operate four alternative educational projects on Lesvos; Gekko Kids, Socrates Sports & Development, Gekko X, and EcoHub projects. Furthermore, we continue to respond in emergencies on Lesvos, with particular focus on winterization and identification of unaccompanied children at risk, deprived of basic aid, legal support, and shelter. Our aim is to design humanitarian interventions and programs that are innovative for the field; challenging traditional notions of emergency education, de-victimizing the distribution of aid to affected communities, and enabling healing and recovery by customizing personalized solutions aiming in individual growth and personal capacity. Whether we are doing emergency response or quality education for refugee children, we continue to emphasize the importance of 'space' as a fundamental basis of allowing for healing, transformative education, the essence of participatory practices, and the collateral impact of individual flourishing within displaced communities on the move.
To improve the quality of life of children, young people and women living in the slum through the provision of quality education, affordable housing, health care and socio economic empowerment Akili Girls Preparatory School strives to provide underprivileged girls in Kisumu County with affordable quality education that will help them to break the cycle of poverty. The project goal is to generate sufficient income through focussing on horticulture, poultry, dairy cows, and renewable energy systems so as to meet educational, nutritional and medical support needs of the girls we support. This project aims to support at least 200 orphans and vulnerable girls between 3 and 14 years by the year 2020. The primary target group are girls from the lowest income populations, particularly those who are affected by the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Obunga slum and Obambo village in Kisumu County. We will enroll 5 fee paying students in every class to enable parents who are able to pay fees to participate in the education of needy girls. The strategy we have adopted to provide quality education to these girls is through the establishment of a boarding school known as Akili Girls Preparatory School which will provide holistic education that addresses both the physical and emotional needs of the girls while creating dignity through self-reliance

Action10 is a Swedish non-profit, non-religious and non-political membership organisation operating on a voluntarily basis and with charity funding. The vision of Action10 is a world free from extreme poverty, where everyone has access to education, employment, healthcare and social security as well as safe water, food, sanitation and energy. Countries are run by good governance and have sustainable economy. To pursue its vision the mission of Action10 is to be an independent initiative with a broad and flexible mandate to work with stakeholders and partners on projects and programs that address international development. Action10 operates in a sustainable, effective and efficient manner, through its unique strategy SEEDS (Sustainable Effective Efficient Development Strategy) The over-arching value platform of Action10 is that it is the Government at the macro level and the Civil Society Organsisations and the individual extreme poor at the micro level, who are the experts on the actions to be taken, and who have the capacity and knowledge to drive the development processes forward. But that the environment and the infrastructure where they operate hinder the process. The aim of the Action10 approach is therefore to offer support to Governments and to the extreme poor addressing the infrastructural and financial challenges to eradicate extreme poverty. It is the dreams of the extreme poor which is the core of the Action10 approach. Those dreams constitute the vision of each program. The mission is what needs to be done to address these dreams. After having identified the dreams the Action10 approach compiles the challenges that the extreme poor face. Those challenges describe the reasons for why they cannot reach their dreams. We call the compilation of challenges Outcome challenges. Linked to each Outcome challenge is a Progress marker. The purpose of the Progress markers is to enable evaluation planning of the program activities. Thus the Progress markers are well defined indicators which can be easily monitored and assessed. The Outcome Challenges also define the Strategy Map. The Strategy Map is a set of concrete activities that must be addressed to reach the dreams. The concept of Outcome Challenges, Progress Markers and Strategy Map were initially invented by Earl, Carden et al. in 2001 and are components of the Outcome Mapping tool. After the Strategy Map has been defined, a sustainable economy scheme is developed. The Programs are either a social enterprises or components of the national development program. A social enterprise shall generate revenue which covers all program costs, as well as pays company tax in the country of operation. If no revenue can be expected short term, which can be the case with for example basic education or social security programs, then the program is funded as a component of the national authorities development program. A crucial component is also that all partners have strong enough institutional capacity to manage the programs. Each partner are encouraged to annually assess and their own institutional capacity. Action10 is offering tools for the assessment as well as training and coaching on finance administration and accounting. All of the above aspects are, in the Action10 approach, subjected to real-time evaluation planning (EP). Action10 has developed a tool for the EP wich contains five steps. The first measures to what extent the progress markers have been achieved, the second the operational aspects, the third the strategy, the fourth the sustainable economy and the fifth the institutional capacity. The United Nations states that in 2013 1.2 billion people still live in extreme poverty. Extreme poor have been defined by the UN as those people earning an income of less than $ 1.25 per day. UN states that the Millennium Development Goals which were identified and agreed on in year 2000 by 197 heads of states and which were to be achieved in 2015, are far from being reached. The Action10 approach benefits from the lessons learnt from previous international aid programs. Through an analysis of previous aid programs, Ten Actions were identified which, if addressed thoroughly in all development programs, are expected to reduce and eventually eradicate extreme poverty. All the Ten actions are thoroughly captured in all Action10 activities. Our Ten Actions are based on these 10 principles; 1. Needs driven program 2. Equal partnership 3.
