Deborah’s Place opens doors of opportunity for women who are homeless in Chicago. Supportive housing and services offer women their key to healing, achieving their goals and moving on from the experience of homelessness. We seek to fulfill our mission through the expression of our core values: We believe that safe, clean and affordable housing is a right. We believe that every woman has the potential to achieve her goals and determine her future. We believe that women heal from life traumas through healthy relationships and a caring, supportive community. We believe that we are stronger when we welcome and celebrate the diversities of the women we serve, our donors, volunteers and staff. We believe in striving for continual growth, development and excellence in the supportive housing and services we provide. We believe that our impact is greatest when we work in collaboration with individuals, organizations and the community at large.

Our mission is to inspire girls to believe in themselves, to get an education, to reach their full potential and to let their voices be heard. However, in order for them to have the space to do this we cannot simply focus on them. We need to change the mindset of the entire society about their value within the community. The International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) organizes law students and lawyers to develop and enforce a set of legal and human rights for refugees and displaced persons. Mobilizing direct legal aid, litigation, and systemic advocacy, IRAP serves the world’s most persecuted individuals and empowers the next generation of human rights leaders. IRAP believes that everyone should have a safe place to live and a safe way to get there. To that end, they value action, accountability, innovation, and candor. They are nimble, collaborative, and nonpartisan. They believe in the power of individuals to change their own circumstances. And they believe in results.

Since 1953, the mission of their shelter has been to provide a haven for Huron county residents to safely surrender their animals when unforeseen circumstances come up. We accept dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals. We are unable to accept stray or outdoor cats and all stray or lost dogs must go to the Huron County Dog Warden.
