At Salt & Light we believe that holy yoga, fitness, proper nutrition, and spirituality will change the world. With 25,000 women and girls falling prey to trafficking every year in Chicago alone, we manifest change by providing a volunteer-driven, one-year long program for survivors of trafficking with the dual goal of healing and empowering women to get jobs in the wellness sector.

Citizens Committee has a simple mission: to help New Yorkers - especially those in low-income communities - come together to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods. Our work is based on the simple belief that New Yorkers understand the needs of their community better than any outsider. We help ordinary people like you to implement their own vision for their neighborhoods and schools. While the projects that we support confront diverse issues, they all address concerns that matter to local residents!

Approximately 3,000 children in Dallas go to sleep each night without a home of their own. We’re on a mission to help young children overcome the lasting and traumatic effects of homelessness. It is our vision that every child in our community has a home, a self-sufficient family and a foundation for success in school and life — and the clock is ticking. 90% of brain development happens by the age of five. Without intervention at this critical time, homeless children may suffer lifelong social, emotional and educational deficits. That’s where we come in. And YOU can help.

Our mission is to empower communities to strengthen languages, culture and the environment by using the internet more effectively. Our primary vehicle of engagement is a multilingual cultural wiki designed, populated, and used by the community to help the community satifsfy their evolving community needs. The BASAbali wiki has engaged by nearly 2.5 million to date. The wiki empowerment process is now being replicated in Makassar, Indonesia. BASAbali is a registered nonprofit in the US. The Kakenya Center for Excellence seeks to empower and motivate young girls through education to become agents of change and to break the cycle of destructive cultural practices in Maasai Kenya such as female genital cutting and early forced marriage. We believe in impacting one girl at a time, one community at a time, until all girls in Africa have the opportunities they need to thrive as individuals. These future women leaders will improve their communities, their nation, and the world.

Elder Law and Disability Rights (ELDR) Center believes that low-income seniors and people with disabilities are among the fastest growing vulnerable populations falling into a gap in our justice system. We have an obligation to ensure they can live with dignity and independently make end of life plans despite their income. ELDR Center is committed to filling the justice gap by providing free and low-cost legal services and education to seniors and people with disabilities.
