Heifer International's mission is to end hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth using gifts of livestock, seeds, trees and training in sustainable agriculture community development projects to help millions of people become self-reliant. Since 1944, Heifer has helped transform the lives of more than 18.5 million families (94.5 million people) by giving them gifts of cows, goats and other livestock. Along with the animals, families receive training in animal care and conservation for environmentally sound agricultural development. We also provide training in community development, gender equity, sharing and caring, strategic planning and other subjects as needed, including literacy. The process takes several years and is not declared successful until the community shows sustained improvement in nutrition, income and self-reliance. Each family that receives an animal agrees to Pass on the Gift by sharing the first-born female offspring of their animal with another family in need, so each gift of livestock starts a chain of self-reliance that spreads throughout  entire communities.

Girls Garage is a nonprofit design and building program and dedicated workspace for girls and female-identifying youth ages 9-18. Girls Garage is the first design and building workshop for female youth in the United States. Through after-school and summer pathways, Girls Garage provides free and low-cost programs in carpentry, welding, architecture, engineering, and activist art to a diverse community of 200 girls per year. Integrating technical skills, college/career guidance, and community leadership, our programs equip girls the tools to build the world they want to see. In our workshop in Berkeley and under the guidance of our highly skilled all-female staff, we invite girls to bring their creative voice and put them to work on real-world building projects that live in our community.

Eden Reforestation Projects is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to foster healthy relationships between communities and the land on which we all depend through landscape restoration and conservation. We work with local communities to restore landscapes on a massive scale, thereby creating jobs, protecting ecosystems, and helping mitigate climate change.

Our mission is to help low-income Haitian individuals, families and communities to help themselves so that they can attain and maintain self-sufficiency and dignity. We fulfill our mission by: supporting Haiti's targeted reconstruction efforts through the capacity-building and sustainable development of Haitian organizations. What We Do ESPWA seeks to amplify impact and build enduring solutions to social and economic problems by working collaboratively with others to transform existing systems --incorporating our efforts in a wider ecosystem of actors and initiatives; bridging boundaries to achieve greater levels of change. Our current efforts are centered on spearheading the development of a Haiti Community Foundation as an entity through which this vision can be actualized. Our mission is to prevent child trafficking and exploitation through culturally relevant programs for vulnerable children and to share their stories to empower creative, compassionate people to act. Formerly known as The SOLD Project

The Colibrí Center for Human Rights is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization with the mission to end disappearance and uphold human dignity along the U.S.-Mexico border. Colibrí works in solidarity with the families of the disappeared to find truth and justice through forensic science, investigation, and community organizing. Colibrí bears witness to this unjust loss of life, accompanying families in their search and holding space for families to build community, share stories, and raise consciousness about this human rights crisis. Through the Missing Migrant Project and DNA Program, Colibrí works with medical examiners to compare information families provide about the missing as well as DNA samples with unidentified remains recovered along the border in the hopes of giving families the answers they so deserve. Beyond the forensic work, Colibrí and impacted families build community and advocate for change through the Family Network, a network of mutual support and solidarity among families and friends of missing migrants across the Americas, and Bring them Back and Historias y Recuerdos, oral history- advocacy projects that center and amplify family voices. Colibrí began in 2006 as the Missing Migrant Project, a small volunteer initiative inside the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner designed to organize information about people who were missing on the border to help identify the hundreds of individuals being examined by the forensic scientists in that office. In 2013, the Missing Migrant Project became the Colibrí Center for Human Rights to better address the needs of families of the missing and advocate for more structural change.
