Ayuda’s mission is to advocate for low-income immigrants through direct legal, social and language services, training and outreach in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. We envision a community where all immigrants succeed and thrive in the United States. Ayuda believes justice should have no barriers. Since 1973, we have served more than 150,000 low-income immigrants throughout Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. Our expert and dedicated professionals help immigrants from anywhere in the world navigate the immigration and justice systems and access the social safety net. Ayuda’s comprehensive and welcoming approach breaks down barriers, helps those in need, and makes our communities stronger.

Casa de Esperanza mobilizes Latinas and Latin@ communities to end gender-based violence. We were founded in 1982 when a small group of Latina activists created an emergency shelter for Latinas who were denied domestic violence services from mainstream systems. For 38 years, we have served a highly marginalized population in culturally relevant ways that translate to greater safety, community connectedness, and self-sufficiency for Latin@s who experience domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking. Our work builds and leverages the communities’ strengths, cultural assets, and leadership to shift beliefs and behaviors within family and social networks, which we believe will create the conditions and solutions for thriving.

Thrive believes that the most powerful experience is studying abroad for three or more months. Our mission is to bring college students to Israel as part of a college program and make it a place to call ‘home’ by immersing themselves in every aspect of life in Israel. Thrive takes a holistic approach ensuring that students understand every aspect of Israel and Judaism over a semester long program attached to universities in Israel. Students who take part in Thrive receive an experience in Israel unlike any other program offered. Thrive seeks to expose college students to all aspects of life in Israel including Jewish holidays, army, kibbutz, Israeli politics, activism, college campus living, language and a general immersion in daily life in Israel.

Pars' mission is to act as a catalyst for social, cultural and economic integration of  Iranian-Americans, and other communities, into mainstream American society.As a community-based social and legal services organization, Pars Equality Center is a registered 501(C)(3) non-profit dedicated to helping all members of the Iranian-American community and other Persian-speaking countries realize their full potential as informed, self-reliant, and responsible members of American society. We believe that learning and teaching the rights and responsibilities of citizenship in a democracy as well as the rules and rewards of entrepreneurship are the necessary ingredients for our success as a community.Pars Equality Center achieves its mission primarily by providing extensive social and legal services. Our Persian-speaking staff advocates for families and individuals in need with a strong focus on refugees, asylees, and those newcomers living in poverty.

EERC mission is to facilitate communication and forge friendships between students from Romania and USA. We believe that exposure to other cultures is invaluable in shaping the younger generation views of the world and of their own potential in positive and enduring ways. We create opportunity for middle school students from Romania to experience American life by attending overnight camps or living with a local family while attending local day camps. This experience opens further opportunities for them to pursue when they return home. Equally important is to present these vibrant young people as ambassadors of the Romanian culture. In our experience, the Americans whose lives they touch find these interactions enriching and gain new insights about other cultures. These shared experiences produce benefits to both sides that extend long beyond the immediate experience, even to subsequent interactions that occur beyond our program. We select students who demonstrate the intellectual and emotional maturity to benefit from this unique opportunity. They are boys and girls from various areas of Romania who are fluent in English and who demonstrate strong academic and personal characteristics. With our help, this rising generation will be engaging in a world without borders. We bring the world closer to home.

In 2000, Episcopal priest Bill Rankin and renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Charlie Wilson launched GAIA to increase health equity globally and to bring life-saving treatment to one of the countries most impacted by the AIDS epidemic. Today, with GAIA’s support, Malawi is one of the first African countries to meet UNAIDS 2020 90-90-90 treatment targets, even in the most remote districts with the highest HIV prevalence, where we work. Throughout our history, GAIA has adapted our services to provide compassionate, patient-centered healthcare. We meet the immediate needs of the population by providing community-based health services and health education while also strengthening Malawi's healthcare workforce for the long-term by accelerating health workforce development and promoting equitable deployment of frontline providers. In 2007, GAIA Malawi was formally established as an independent, but closely aligned, entity to the U.S. organization. With its own self-selected Board of Directors and a 100% Malawian staff, GAIA Malawi works closely with GAIA U.S. to design and execute cost-effective program responses to the evolving health needs of Malawi’s rural population. All program interventions are developed with key input from the communities served and executed in partnership with the Government of Malawi, Ministry of Health and Population, and local and international partners. GAIA believes that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live or who they are.

Creating Friendships for Peace, Inc. is a volunteer grassroots organization whose mission is to promote and strengthen friendships between teens from divided communities and extend those friendships to their families and friends. The friendships are developed through homestays with American families. Each family hosts two teens – one from each side of a conflict. The teen pair shares a bedroom and learns about each other, understanding their different perspectives and realizing that friendships can develop despite significant political and cultural differences. With friendship, an atmosphere is created that allows for mutual respect and understanding – a key ingredient for peace. CFP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the United States. Our volunteers were active in Northern Ireland from 1987 until 2007. We are currently active in Cyprus since 2009 and in Israel/Palestine since 2018. In our efforts to maintain neutrality, we do not accept government funding and rely solely on gifts from individuals, charitable foundations, and businesses who wish to make a difference for peace in the world. Bridges from Borders Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that was founded by a group of immigrants and immigrant allies who are passionate about helping all immigrants bridge the gap between their native culture and the American culture. We understand the struggles of acculturating to a new culture and want to be there to support you.

The Business Council for Peace (Bpeace) is the nonprofit coalition of Skillanthropists. Our mission is to lift international communities in need by advising local entrepreneurs on how to scale their businesses to create significant employment for all and expand the economic power of women. We believe: More jobs mean less violence. ®

Founded in 1948, Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains offers care and support to the people it serves, regardless of race, religion, gender, age, culture or economic status, to equip them to live full and whole lives. Lutheran Family Services believes that all people, from the newborn infant to the most elderly person, deserve to be valued in the community. The mission statement that guides the efforts of staff, board and volunteers is: Inspired by the compassionate love of Christ, LFS walks with the vulnerable, through services that heal, strengthen, and provide Hope.

It’s been our honour to serve people from all over East Africa and the Middle East. Our participants come from Congo, South Sudan, Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Iraq and Syria, with an array of cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs, coming together in the name of forgiveness and rehabilitation. In every session, we see individuals making personal commitment to growth and development; commitment that translates into action and results. That’s why we see over 50% reduction in trauma symptoms within a two week program. That’s why we see families restored and homes rebuilt. That’s why hope and long term sustainability abounds. We believe our job is to walk alongside individuals as they embark on the journey towards hope and participate in our programs that lead to rehabilitation.

The Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice continues the work that Rachel Corrie began and hoped to accomplish, and carries out that work with her vision, spirit, and creative energy in mind. We conduct and support programs that foster connections between people, that build understanding, respect, and appreciation for differences, and that promote cooperation within and between local and global communities. We value and seek creative, and even unconventional, approaches to problems.We agree with Rachel that it is important to make commitments to people and places. We will continue the commitment to Rafah that she initiated and intended to maintain.
