Project1808 promotes sustainable community development in Kabala, Koinadugu District, Sierra Leone by aiding young students in their efforts to identify and address the root causes of poverty, public and environmental health challenges, and other community-identified concerns. Among our project's specific aims are the following: Fostering academic excellence and nurturing a resilient knowledge base through student mentoring, tutoring, internships, and teacher training programs. Stimulating curiosity, creativity, and innovation through student generated projects that enhance knowledge and encourage students to implement their ideas in ways that benefit their communities. Facilitating local and global partnerships for knowledge exchange, training for students, teachers and community members, student mentoring, and resources to sustain the community knowledge base Our Model Project1808 Model for sustainable development At the core of our sustainable community model is an investment in disadvantaged youth, schools, and their communities to form the building blocks as LEGOs of healthy communities in Sierra Leone and Africa. Through specific GLocal (Global and Local) partnerships, we practice the concept of thinking globally and acting locally, enhancing the exchange of knowledge, increasing the cultural competency, and expanding the worldview of all of our participants. Project1808 is committed to optimizing partnerships between educational institutions locally, within Africa and overseas, particularly with the involvement of other African countries. We want to bring back hope to youths (and whole communities) whose lives, homes, families, schools, infrastructure, institutions were destroyed by 11 years of war in Sierra Leone.

The Organization assists vulnerable children and families through integrated development initiatives.CRK facilitates the rehabilitation of street children, and other abused or neglected children, by encouraging close links between community -child, project-child, and project - community. Multifaceted activities combine child rehabilitation centers with community development initiatives such as: a. Community Health clinics - both preventive and curative services. b. Training in home based income generating activities. c. Sports facilities in identifying and nurturing talents among the youths. d. Advocacy campaigns on Family health and HIV/AIDS, children rights, domestic violence and substance abuse among the youths. e. Bio- intensive farming activities targeting vulnerable families. f. Stepping Stones To New Beginnings! The "Invisible Americans" are our homeless injured Veterans. These Forgotten Hero's are suffering from homelessness and debilitating injuries from war. Exposing the neglect that our Veterans are experiencing from the VA and the denial of benefits from our government. The American Homeless Families Foundation has created programs that eliminate homelessness. As well as, supply prosthetics and curative medical treatments to our Veterans, which the VA refuses to pay for. These programs give the Veterans a familiar safe haven, prosthetics and curative medical treatments, while we assist the Veteran in acquiring the necessary skills for a New Beginning.

We are a foundation responding to a humanitarian crisis affecting the innocent men, women and children forced from their homes by climate change, poverty and war. We identify needs not being met and aim to fill these needs by activating our network of logistical, financial and structural partners to provide these needs thoroughly and without hesitation. In addition to providing urgent needs, our mission is to deliver a more dignified, sustainable, and innovative response to the refugee crisis in Europe. We believe that refugee camps should be more inclusive, more self-sustaining and providing refugees with a better quality of life and adaptation process to their new environments. With collaborative efforts with interested corporations, other charities, refugees, volunteers, and donations, we are activating a network that re-defines the global refugee camps.
Equip Manyatta is a charity organization created to assist a community-based organization in Western Kenya, the Manyatta Youth Resource Center (MYRC). The officers of Equip Manyatta were instrumental in assisting community members in Kisumu to establish the MYRC. The mission of the MYRC is to increase opportunities for youth living in the slums of Manyatta, Kisumu to participate in sporting activities and the performing arts, to provide health education, support school attendance, and to build the organization into a self sustaining enterprise. Manyatta is the largest slum in Western Kenya and is home to over 60,000 people living in an area of five square miles with little in the way of urban infrastructure. Kisumu is the third largest city in Kenya, with roughly 578,000 people. Other goals include providing activities that engage youth in positive endeavors to avoid delinquency, encouraging school attendance and fostering peaceful forms of communication to avoid the sort of vicious violence experienced in the area after the last national election.
The reality for many underprivileged people in Pattaya, is a life that is entrapped by poverty and abuse. Their lives are marked by a lack of adequate care, food, shelter and an uncertainty about the future. Many of these people earn a meager living as street vendors, garbage collectors, prostitutes or beggars. Drug & alcohol abuse is common in these communities, making them very dangerous places for children to grow up in. Those living in the slums are also at constant risk of abuse and exploitation, and a way to break out of this cycle of poverty seems almost impossible. Slum dwellers are often without the benefits of a house registration, which is needed to access healthcare, education and other government support services. In addition, without a birth certificate a child faces an entire lifetime of living as an 'alien' in their own home country. Hand to Hand is a Christian organization that is based in Pattaya, who recognise that human rights apply to all age groups. We seek to protect those who are marginalised regardless of their race, age or religion. We achieve this by showing them the love of Jesus Christ through prayer and, on a much more practical level, by providing services such as helping them acquire legal documentation and offering food, clothing and educating the poor.
Working hand in hand with our community partners, LIFE ElderCare's mission is to empower seniors and disabled adults to live independently by nourishing mind, body and spirit. No matter what our age, all of us need to be well-fed, safe, and connected with others. But for our most vulnerable seniors and disabled adults this is not always easy. Therefore, LIFE ElderCare exists to help prevent and alleviate malnutrition, isolation, and falls, and in return, we receive the gift of community connection. Our agency was launched in 1975 when a local Fremont resident became increasingly concerned about the nutritional needs of homebound seniors. She engaged the support of a local school, where meals were prepared and packaged, and then, with help from friends, delivered them to those who needed it. During the first year of service, about 350 meals were delivered. Now we deliver this amount every day throughout Fremont, Newark and Union City. Our staff and board have strong core values that include the following beliefs: 1) No senior or disabled adult should go hungry; 2) No senior or disabled adult should suffer from loneliness; 3) No senior or disabled adult should lack transportation assistance; 4) Falls and their often tragic consequences are preventable; 5) Every senior should have the right to age in the place they call home. In addition, our services tackle many goals. The work benefits both seniors and disabled adults, as well their families and the larger community. WE WORK TO HELP SENIORS AND DISABLED ADULTS 1. Continue living independently with dignity; 2. Alleviate hunger and malnourishment through access to affordable, cooked, nutritious food; 3. Receive frequent well-checks; 4. Remove obstacles to completing medical appointments or shopping trips; 5. Avoid premature or unnecessary skilled nursing stays for those who prefer to live at home; 6. Lift loneliness and isolation and open ties to the community even though they may be homebound; 7. Maintain or improve a good quality of life; 8. Get short-term support while recuperating from an illness, a medical procedure or an accident; 9. Learn hands-on how to avoid falls, which can have serious, long-term consequences and take huge physical, emotional and financial tolls; 10. Link up with case management and other human services as needed. WE WORK TO HELP FAMILIES 1. Receive occasional respite and find other supports; 2. Reduce their lost work days caring for elderly parents or loved ones; 3. Get assurance that their elders are eating right, have human connection or help shopping or going to appointments and/or checked on every weekday. FOR THE LARGER COMMUNITY: WE WORK TO... 1. Reduce the burden on local emergency services; 2. Drastically reduce Medicaid spending; 3. Reduce hospital admissions, readmissions and readmission fines; 4. Reduce lengths-of-stay in institutions; 5. Provide our local colleges with opportunities for their nursing students to complete work in public health classes and gain exposure to new demographics; 6. Provide residents of all ages with multiple opportunities to volunteer; deliver meals, provide companionship, and/or 'transport with support'. Research on volunteering demonstrates that people derive direct positive health impacts through helping others; 7. Provide basic supports to vulnerable seniors and disabled adults when others cannot in our neighborhoods; 8. Nurture the vital, and sometimes overlooked, aspects of community that make it a safe and healthy place in which to age.
